Many of Murano glass enthusiasts do not know, in fact, that only some manufacturers of the island of Murano have joined and adhere to the official mark of the Veneto Region, and that many of the artists and famous glass masters of the island not partecipate.
Be careful that even if a glass item does not have the official mark it can be sure 100% authentic Murano glass.
So those are the main reasons why an artist of Murano does not participate in the official trademark:
Membership is not simple and the producers to participate in the consortium must be accepted after a scrupulous discipline and inspection.
Obviously admission also involves some costs that are justified by the services offered by the consortium, including the numered stickers against counterfeiting to be applied to glass pieces.
However many of the most talented artists and Murano glass masters, ( it is estimated that more than half of the producers and the majority of Murano artists who adopt the traditional processing by the lampworking, very expanding technique over the past 30 years), do not participate for different reasons, that could be economic, for the costs of participation, or simply choose to promote themselves independently.
